Hosts, Angola capped off a flawless campaign at the 2025 AfroBasket by reclaiming continental glory with a commanding 70–43 victory over Mali in Sunday’s final at the Kilamba Arena.

The 12,700-capacity venue was packed with Angolan and Malian fans, but it was the home side who delivered from start to finish. Angola, champions for the first time since 2013, dominated the contest and closed the tournament unbeaten with a 6-0 record. Childe Dudao led the way with 16 points, earning MVP chants from the crowd, while Selton Miguel added 12.

For Mali, who reached the final for the first time in their history, Siriman Kanoute scored 14 points and Aliou Diarra 11. Their 43-point tally marked the lowest by any team in an AfroBasket game in the last three decades.

Earlier, Senegal clinched third place with a resounding 98–72 win over Cameroon. Jean-Jacques Boissy stole the spotlight, setting a new AfroBasket single-game scoring record with 40 points, surpassing Jeff Xavier’s 38-point mark from 2009.

Supported by Brancou Badio (18) and Ibou Badji (12), Boissy’s explosive performance powered Senegal past a deflated Cameroonian side that struggled after their narrow semifinal loss to Angola. Jordan Bayehe (18) and Jeremiah Hill (15) led Cameroon, but their team shot just 30% from the field and failed to make a three-pointer.

Senegal, who had beaten Cameroon twice in the qualifiers, took control early and led 49–26 at halftime, never looking back. The result ensured they left Luanda with bronze, while Angola’s perfect run restored their status as the kings of African basketball.
