Portugal captain and Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo has married longtime partner Georgina Rodriguez, bringing their nearly decade-long relationship to a new chapter.
Ronaldo, 41, confirmed the marriage on Tuesday with a simple post on Instagram featuring a photograph of the couple’s wedding rings and the caption: “C❤️G.”
The ceremony was held privately in the Portuguese town of Cascais and was attended by close family members, including the couple’s children.
Ronaldo’s representative confirmed that the pair had officially become husband and wife in a “private and intimate” civil ceremony, according to reports highlighted by the Daily Mail.
The wedding reportedly came as Ronaldo was preparing for the new Saudi Pro League season and is expected to keep him away from Al-Nassr’s preparations. The Portugal captain could miss the club’s league opener against Al-Fateh on August 15, as well as their King’s Cup fixture against Al-Diriyah.
From a decade-long romance to marriage
Ronaldo and Rodriguez’s relationship began in 2016, when Georgina was working at a Gucci store in Madrid.
Rodriguez has previously recalled feeling an immediate connection when Ronaldo walked into the store with his eldest son, Cristiano Jr., and friends.
Their relationship soon developed beyond their chance meeting, with the couple making their first major public appearance together at the FIFA The Best awards in early 2017. Ronaldo later made their relationship official on Instagram.
Almost a decade after their first meeting, the couple have now officially become husband and wife.
The proposal that came at the “right time”

The marriage follows their engagement, which was announced about a year ago.
For years, Ronaldo had been asked about when he would marry Rodriguez. The Portuguese superstar previously explained that he had been waiting for what he described as the “right moment” before taking the step.
When he eventually proposed, it was not according to a carefully planned script.
Ronaldo revealed that his two daughters played an unexpected role in the proposal. After a female friend had given him a ring to present to Rodriguez, his daughters entered the room and told him: “You are going to give the ring to Mum and ask her to marry you.”
Ronaldo said that was the moment he realised the time was right.
A family built in the spotlight
Throughout their relationship, Ronaldo and Rodriguez have built a family that has remained at the centre of their lives despite the intense global attention surrounding them.
Their daughter, Alana Martina, was born in November 2017. Ronaldo also became father to twins Eva and Mateo that same year through surrogacy.
In 2022, the couple suffered the devastating loss of their baby boy during childbirth, while his twin sister, Bella Esmeralda, survived.
Ronaldo later spoke about the tragedy and how the difficult experience strengthened the family’s bond as they supported one another through the loss.
“The woman of my life”
Ronaldo has consistently spoken highly of Rodriguez and her importance in his life, describing her as his life partner and the mother of his children.
After years of speculation over whether their relationship would eventually lead to marriage, the long-awaited moment has now arrived.
From a chance meeting at a Gucci store in Madrid to becoming husband and wife in Portugal, Ronaldo and Rodriguez’s relationship has entered a new chapter this time, officially as a married couple.
