Mohammed Zilfikilu powered Rancher Bees to their second win of the season as he also recorded his ffith goal of the season. Ranchers Bees came from behind to beat Bendel Insurance 2-1 in Kano on Saturday and pick up all three points in their Matchday 4 game.
Jude Okorie put the Bees ahead in the 52nd minute, powering a header home from Marvellous Samson’s brilliant cross. Lekan Gabriel levelled for Insurance in the 66th minute, but Mohammed Rabiu Zilkifilu restored the lead with a thunderous strike in the 80th minute.
The result is a boost for coach Usman Abdallah, who took charge on a two-year deal in June, and a setback for Bendel, who had scored four against Kun Khalifat a week earlier.
Katsina United won their first game of the season by beating Niger Tornadoes 1-0 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium. Abdulrahman Garba scored the only goal in the 21st minute. The win lifts Katsina to 11th place, while Niger Tornadoes stay ninth.
In Lagos, Barau FC drew 0-0 with Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan. Both sides created chances but neither could score. Barau stay unbeaten in second place with eight points from four games. Ikorodu are fifth with five points from three games and have a game in hand.
Meanwhile, Zilfikilu Mohammed is leading the race for the Golden Boot with five goals in four matches so far in the league.
