Akor Adams scored deep into stoppage time to rescue a 3-3 draw for a depleted Super Eagles, who came from two goals down against Russia in a thrilling friendly at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Super Eagles made a dream start as Kelechi Iheanacho drilled a left-footed shot past goalkeeper Aleksandr Maksimenko in the 10th minute after a pass from Abdullahi Bewene.
Russia took control from there as Lechi Sadulaev equalised in the 30th minute, while Matvey Kislyak completed the turnaround in first-half stoppage time.
Alexey Miranchuk took another goal for the hosts to make it 3-1 in the 54th minute after more confusion in the Nigerian defence.
Russia controlled proceedings until Nigeria began the fight back. Substitute Peter Edokpolor, who had come on only eight minutes earlier, pulled a goal back in the 78th minute on his senior international debut.
The equaliser arrived in stoppage time. Adams finished a fine pass from 20-year-old Umar Abubakar to level the scores and ruin Russia’s evening, a side that had beaten Namibia 6-0 in its previous outing.
