Benin Republic thrash Rwanda to keep up with Nigeria

The Cheetahs of Benin Republic recorded a convincing 3-0 victory against the Amavubi of Rwanda in a matchday three 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

The Cheetahs of Benin Republic recorded a convincing 3-0 victory against the Amavubi of Rwanda in a matchday three 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

Benin Republic led by former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr took control of second place in Group D by dismantling their closest competition Rwanda at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny.

It took just seven minutes for the Cheetahs of Benin Republic to go in front against Rwanda.

Steve Mounie converted a ball by Jodel Dossou to send the fans wild.

The Cheetahs of Benin Republic recorded a convincing 3-0 victory against the Amavubi of Rwanda in a matchday three 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

That was the only goal in the first half as Benin Republic went to the break with a narrow lead.

In the 67th minute, Benin Republic were rewarded with their dominance with a second goal as Andreas Hountondji converted a ball to him by Abdoul Rachid Moumini.

Hassane Imourane sealed the result with the third for Benin Republic in the 70th minute.

Benin Republic held on for the win but are still second in the group after the Super Eagles of Nigeria recorded a 1-0 win against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya.
