DR Congo’s motionless fan, Michel Nkuka “Lumumba” Mboladinga has left the tournament but his iconic stance in the stands lives on.
Super Eagles striker, Akor Adams paid homage to DR Congo’s first Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba whose stance Mboladinga had recreated in the tournament.
Adams race his right had in the air after he scored in Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Algeria in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Algerian striker, Mohammed Amoura had earlier mocked the the Patrice Lumumba pose in Algeria’s 1-0 win over DR Congo in the second round.
Although he apologised afterwards, his behaviour was heavily criticised given the historic diplomatic relations between both countries.
Meanwhile, Akor Adams homage has received commendation online from DR Congo fans online who feel avenged as Nigeria progress to the semi-finals of the competition.
