Akwa United have reached an agreement with Kennedy Boboye for his second stint at club as head coach.
The 2021 Nigeria Premier Football League champions signed a mid-season contract with the former Super Eagles forward on Monday, January 6.
Kennedy Boboye left Sunshine Stars in November under controversial circumstances as he claimed inference from the management.
Boboye had stints with Abia Warriors, Plateau United where he also won the league and Remo Stars.
He is regarded as one of the finest coaches in the league over the last decade. Boboye favors a possession-based style: fluidity in play and quick transition.
He returns to Akwa United after leading the Uyo-based club to its first-ever league title in 2021.
The 50-year-old is expected to start work this week as he looks to rewrite the fortunes of the club.
Akwa United are currently trapped in the relegation zone with 19 points from 19 matches.
