Amorim affirms commitment to Manchester United amidst season’s turmoil

In the wake of Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, manager Ruben Amorim has publicly declared his intention to remain at the helm, despite mounting pressure and speculation about his future.

The loss in Bilbao not only marked United’s fourth defeat to Spurs this season but also ensured the Red Devils would miss out on European competition next season, following a disappointing 16th-place finish in the Premier League—their lowest in half a century.

Addressing the media post-match, Amorim acknowledged the club’s struggles but emphasized his commitment to the project:

“I will not resign. I believe in the work we’re doing here. If the board or the fans think I’m not the right person, I will leave without any discussion about compensation. But until then, I am fully committed to turning things around.”

Amorim, who took over managerial duties in November 2024, has faced challenges in revitalizing the squad. Despite a promising start, the team has struggled with consistency, leading to questions about the manager’s tactics and player selections.

However, Amorim remains steadfast in his approach, stating: “We have to have faith. If the board believes I’m not the right person, I will have to go. But I trust in our methods and the direction we’re heading.”

As Manchester United prepares for a season without European football, the focus shifts to rebuilding and addressing the systemic issues that have plagued the club.

Amorim’s commitment provides a semblance of stability, but the path forward will require concerted efforts from management, players, and supporters alike.

The coming months will be crucial in determining whether Amorim can steer Manchester United back to its former glory or if the club will opt for yet another managerial change in its quest for success.
