Coach of Argentina’s U-20 football team, Diego Placente has identified a few strengths and weaknesses of the Flying Eagles ahead of their round of sixteen clash later tonight (8.30 p.m.).
Los Cebollitas will take on the Flying Eagles for a place in the last eight of the competition tonight at the Julio Martinez Pradanos National Stadium in Santiago.
Argentina, the most successful country in the history of the competition with six titles, qualified for the second round with a perfect record- nine points from three matches.
However, Nigeria, the seven-time African champions sealed qualification as the second third-placed team in the competition.
While speaking to the media ahead of the fixture, acknowledged that Aliyu Zubairu’s Flying Eagles are a counterattacking side but pointed out how his team plan to exploit their weaknesses.
“Playing the same way, knowing that they are very dangerous on the counterattack.
“Sometimes when you analyse, you are a little disorganised, but when a team is very long, it has its good and bad sides.
“You have more possession there, but every time you lose it, you suffer a lot more.”
Argentina go into the tie not just as favorites but also with revenge following their shocking ouster from the last edition of the tournament.
The Flying Eagles knocked out Argentina 2-0 on home soil in the second round of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
A win for either Argentina or Nigeria will set up a face-off with Mexico in the last eight of the competition.
Mexico qualified for the quarter-finals with a 4-1 victory over host, Chile on Tuesday night.
