Arokodare rescues Wolves from defeat as survival battle continues

Tolu Arokodare scored a vital goal to help Wolverhampton Wanderers avoid defeat against Brentford in their fight for survival in the Premier League.

The Super Eagles striker came off the bench to draw the visitors level in the second half after going two goals down.

Italian-Nigerian defender Michael Kayode scored his first-ever goal for Brentford as he put the hosts ahead after 22 minutes.

The right full-back placed a header into the right side of goal from Keane Lewis-Potter’s cross into the box.

Brazilian striker, Igor Thiago bagged his 19th goal of the season as he tapped the ball into an empty net from Dango Ouattara’s pass.

English midfielder Adam Armstrong scored one of the contenders for Goal of the Month to reduce the deficit just before the break.

The 29-year-old received a precise pass from Jean Ricner Bellergarde before powering a ferocious shot into the roof of the net.

Armstrong almost restored parity for the visitors but his shot at goal came off the left side of the post in the 56th minute.

Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Tolu Arokodare grabbed the equaliser in the 77th minute with a header from João Gomes’s cross to the far post.

The match ended 2-2 as Wolverhampton Wanderers continues to fight to move out of the drop zone.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are at the bottom of the Premier League table with 17 points from 30 matches.
