Arsenal are intensifying efforts to sign Sporting’s star striker Viktor Gyökeres, with negotiations reportedly at an advanced stage.
While no club-to-club agreement has been reached, there’s a shared willingness among all parties to finalize the deal.

Arsenal are encouraged by the 27-year-old’s eagerness to join, and personal terms are not expected to pose an issue. In a recent development, Sporting have permitted Gyökeres to delay his pre-season return. Initially due back on Monday—a week after some teammates—he now has until Friday as talks with the Gunners progress.
Securing a striker has been Arsenal’s top priority this transfer window, with the club exploring options like RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško.
Since joining Sporting from Coventry for around £20 million in 2023, Gyökeres has been prolific, scoring 97 goals in 102 matches over two seasons in Portugal. Last campaign alone, he netted an impressive 54 goals in 52 games across all competitions.
