AUSTRALIAN OPEN: IF ANYONE CAN STOP DJOKOVIC IT IS SINNER

The stage is set for the last four of the 2024 Australian Open where Novak Djokovic will take on Jannick Sinner in the early hours of Friday 26th January and in the other Semi final it will be Daniil Medvedev versus Alexander Zverev.

Djokovic will be gunning for a record 25 Grand Slam title but standing on his way in achieving that feat is Sinner who defeated the world number one twice last year. The pair went 2-2 in 2023, with Djokovic winning the Wimbledon semifinal and ATP Finals final, while Sinner won in the ATP Finals round-robin and Davis Cup.

Sinner on his day can defeat any player. Just like Novak he barely has weakness in his game and even hits the ball harder than the Serb. He always comes out tops with an average of six winners per game. In as much as he has a formidable forehead and backhand, he also has a great serve and volley.

Stopping Novak in a Grand Slam semi finals is an uphill task but if anyone can do it right now it is definitely Sinner who was voted by his peers as the most improved player of the year (2023) where he won six titles and moved from world number fifteen to world number four.

Djokovic will be up for a revenge from last year’s meeting while the Italian will be full of confidence winning two out of their last three meetings. One thing is sure the first semi final between these two will definitely be a blockbuster.
