Spanish referee Munuera Montero is under investigation by the Royal Spanish Football Federation and has been suspended from this weekend’s fixtures.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has launched an investigation into La Liga referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero’s potential conflict of interest due to his private business ventures.
Munuera Montero founded a sports consultancy and management company, Talentus Sports, which has raised concerns about his impartiality as a referee.
While the investigation is ongoing, Munuera Montero will not be assigned any matches by the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA).
The RFEF has assured that the investigation will be conducted with necessary guarantees, and the findings will be made public once the analysis is complete.
Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has also reported that the Spanish referee has been suspended by UEFA.
This development comes after Munuera Montero faced criticism from Real Madrid fans for his decisions during the match between Osasuna and Real Madrid, including sending off Jude Bellingham for unsportsmanlike conduct.
