The Benue State Government has celebrated Super Falcons forward Francisca Mlumun Ordega (OON) in grand style, following her pivotal role in Nigeria’s victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia hosted the Gboko-born football star at a special dinner reception in the Government House, Makurdi, where he showered her with rewards befitting a national heroine.
The package included ₦50 million in cash, a fully furnished three-bedroom apartment in Makurdi, and the renaming of a major street in her honour.
In a gesture of appreciation to those who shaped her early career, Governor Alia also awarded ₦10 million to Ordega’s first coach, acknowledging his role in discovering and nurturing her talent.
“You have made Benue and Nigeria proud,” Governor Alia said. “Your discipline, hard work, and patriotism have brought glory to our state. You are a role model for every young girl with a dream.”
The star-studded reception drew top government officials, sports administrators, traditional rulers, and excited fans, all united in celebrating one of Benue’s most accomplished athletes.
Nigeria’s latest WAFCON triumph not only secured a record-extending 12th title for the Super Falcons but also booked their place at the 2025 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
