Big blow! Noni Madueke ruled out for six weeks

Noni Madueke

It is still early in the season, and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have had to deal with a couple of injuries to key players, including Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard, and Bukayo Saka, who returned to action on Sunday.

Unfortunately, Arsenal will be without Noni Madueke for at least six to eight weeks after suffering an injury in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City.

Madueke is believed to have suffered a cruciate ligament injury after coming off as a second-half substitute as Gabriel Martinelli scored a late equalizer in the one-all draw.

Arsenal’s medical staff are awaiting a reduction in swelling before issuing a definitive diagnosis on the injury, according to reports. Still, the 23-year-old is set to miss at least two months of action.

This development comes as a major blow to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and England head coach Thomas Tuchel, especially considering Madueke’s impressive start to the season.

Should the initial prognosis hold, Madueke won’t return to play until November at the earliest, causing him to miss several crucial domestic and European fixtures for the Gunners.

Arsenal are set to face Sunderland in the Premier League on November 8. If Madueke remains unavailable for that game and the subsequent international break, his potential return could align with the north London derby against Tottenham on November 23.

Noni Madueke is expected to sit out England’s upcoming matches against Albania and Latvia, and he’s now doubtful for the World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania in mid-November.
