The Super Eagles of Nigeria have received a boost ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup CAF playoffs later this month.
Nigeria will take on Gabon in the 1st semi-final of the playoffs at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat.
However, the Panthers will be without one of their key defenders, Mick Omfia, ahead of the crucial clash.
Hafia FC defender Mick Omfia will miss out on the matchday squad for the November 13 clash after accumulating two yellow cards in consecutive matches during the qualifiers.
Omfia was booked in Gabon’s 4–0 win over Seychelles in September and again in their seven-goal thriller against Burundi on October 14.
The 24-year-old central defender played a crucial role in helping Gabon reach the playoffs as he featured in five of their last six matches.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will also be without Semi Ajayi for the tie against Gabon due to accumulated yellow cards.
However, given his importance to the team, Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle, is weighing his options on whether to invite the Hull City defender, as he would be available for selection against Cameroon or DR Congo if Nigeria beat Gabon.
