Substitute Chinwendu Ihezuo scored an 89th-minute winner as Nigeria overcame stout resistance from Botswana to claim a 1-0 victory in their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Group B clash.

This result sealed a quarter-final place for Justine Madugu’s side.

Despite Botswana’s resilient defense and standout goalkeeper Sedilame Boseja, Nigeria’s persistence paid off.
The Super Falcons were not as fluid in attack as they were during their tournament opener, where they defeated Tunisia 3-0, but the goal was to seal qualification, and they got the job done.
With two wins from two and yet to concede a goal, Nigeria top Group B and are safely through to the knockout stages with a game to spare.
Botswana, meanwhile, remain without a point and must defeat Tunisia in their final match to have any chance of advancing.
