Arsenal Football Club have announced the death of its former academy graduate Billy Vigar.
The North London club made the announcement on its social media pages on Thursday evening.
Billy Vigar according to sources died after suffering a significant injury to the brain while playing for Chichester City.
The 21-year-old was placed on induced coma earlier this week after the injury but sadly passed away today.
Billy Vigar joined Arsenal’s Academy on shollboy terms at the age of 14 and quickly and caught attention at Hale End with 17 goals in his debut season.
Vigar earned a scholarship in 2020 given his impressive outing and joined the club full time for the 2020/2021 season.
Despite being fast and powerful on the ball, injury to his hamstring staunted his rapid rise in his first season.
However, he made up for it in the second as he scored four goals in 18 matches for the under-18 side.
He went on loan at Derby County and Eastbourne Borough and at the end of the 2023/24 season, he headed back to his native south coast, as he signed for Hastings United – before joining Chichester just last month.
Billy Vigar, according to Arsenal’s statement will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to the game and the pride he exhudes while representing the club.
Arsenal went on to offer its condolences to the family and friends of Billy Vigar.
