Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement with Atalanta for the permanent transfer of Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman.
The Spanish outfit became the favourites to sign the 28-year-old forward after Turkish side, Fenerbache pulled out of deal over payment structure.
Fenerbache were leading the race to sign the former African Footballer of the Year with personal terms agreed.
Having met the €40m price tag for the player, Fenerbache and Atalanta couldn’t agree on payment terms and bank guarantees.
Ademola Lookman will Atletico Madrid for a fee in the region of €40 million and will sign a four-year contract until 2030.
Atletico Madrid have been linked to the 28-year-old forward since last summer and are on the verge of signing the former Everton and Fulham forward.
Lookman will travel to Madrid in the next hours to undergo his medical before putting pen to paper as a new Atletico Madrid player.
Ademola Lookman is set to become the first player of Nigerian descent to play for the men’s first team of Atletico Madrid.
