Liverpool have officially confirmed the signing of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, with the France winger arriving in a deal worth up to £123 million including add-ons. The 23-year-old signs a five-year contract at Anfield after a summer-long pursuit finally reached a breakthrough this week.
Barcola was a key figure in PSG’s Champions League and Ligue 1 double-winning campaign but faced growing competition for minutes from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue at the Parc des Princes. He leaves the French capital having scored 26 goals and provided 30 assists in all competitions since joining from Lyon in 2023, and becomes Liverpool’s second-most expensive signing in history, behind only Alexander Isak’s £125 million move from Newcastle last summer.
The winger spoke of his pride at completing the move. “It’s a great pride to be able to play for Liverpool. I’m very happy,” Barcola said. “It took a long time but I’m really happy today to be able to play for Liverpool and all I want is to be on the pitch and be able to play.”
He also set out his ambitions at Anfield. “I hope to achieve very big things. First of all, winning the Premier League – it’s one of my biggest dreams in my life,” he added. “It is to do that and to stay in this team in the long term – that’s why I signed a long contract – and I hope I can do it.”
Captain Virgil van Dijk also welcomed the signing, saying Liverpool’s stature makes it an attractive destination for top players regardless of the club’s current transition. “This is one of the biggest clubs in the world,” he said. “You either want to be a part of it or you don’t.”
The move could pave the way for Cody Gakpo’s departure from Anfield, with both Tottenham and Manchester City said to be interested in the Dutch forward. Liverpool are also continuing talks over a second wide addition before Tuesday’s deadline, having been linked with Crystal Palace’s Ismaila Sarr following stalled negotiations with Brighton for Yankuba Minteh.
