Brighton responded in the 32nd minute through Yasin Ayari, who capitalized on a lofted pass from Brajan Gruda to level the score. Just before halftime, Dominik Szoboszlai restored Liverpool’s lead with a swerving cross-shot that deceived Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen .
In the second half, Brighton’s substitutes made an immediate impact. Kaoru Mitoma equalized in the 69th minute, pouncing on a rebound after Danny Welbeck’s shot was saved.
The comeback was completed in the 85th minute when Jack Hinshelwood, with his first touch after coming on, converted Matt O’Riley’s cross to give Brighton the lead .
This defeat marks Liverpool’s third consecutive game without a win since clinching the Premier League title, following a loss to Chelsea and a draw with Arsenal.
Despite the recent dip in form, Liverpool remains at the top of the table and will look to finish the season on a high note in their final match against Crystal Palace at Anfield.
For Brighton, the victory boosts their chances of securing eighth place in the league, which could grant them qualification to the Europa Conference League, depending on other European competition outcomes.
