St. Pauli continued their impressive start to life back in the Bundesliga with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Augsburg in Hamburg.

The visitors struck first in the 16th minute when Fabian Rieder pounced to give Augsburg an early advantage. But just before the break, St. Pauli found their way back into the contest.

After a VAR check confirmed a handball, Andreas Hountondji saw his penalty initially saved but calmly converted the retake to level the score.

The decisive moment came in the 78th minute. Substitute Danel Sinani’s effort took a wicked deflection on its way in, sending the Millerntor crowd into raptures.

The victory means St. Pauli remain unbeaten this season, while Augsburg were left to rue missed chances after surrendering another lead on the road.

Over in Mönchengladbach, Werder Bremen produced a statement performance, dismantling the hosts 4-0 in front of their own fans.

Bremen stamped their authority early, with S. Mbangula opening the scoring after 15 minutes and Jens Stage doubling the advantage shortly after. Gladbach never recovered, and things unraveled further in the second half.

Romano Schmid coolly slotted home a 73rd-minute penalty before Justin Njinmah capped off the rout with a well-taken finish after an assist by Victor Boniface eight minutes later.
