CAFCL: Esperance, Orlando Pirates, Petro Atletico, other top favorites secure penultimate round spots

A handful of top African teams have booked their spoys in the final qualification round of the CAF Champions League.

South African side, Orlando Pirates qualified for the penultimate round without conceding a goal as they tore part Lioli from Lesotho.

The second leg ended 4-0 at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday as the Sea Robbers claimed a 7-0 aggregate scoreline.

Petro Atletico Luanda of Angola also kept a clean sheet in both legs as they progressed to the final round of qualification.

The Angolan club dispatched their opponents from Mauritius Cercle De Joachim 3-0 im Luanda to wrap up a 6-0 aggregate score.

Four-time champions Esperance didn’t keep a clean sheet in the second leg but scored enough goals in both legs to secure their passage into the next round.

The Tunisian club took apart Nigerien side ASFAN 4-1 in the second leg having recorded a 3-0 win away from home in the first leg last week.

Reigning champions of the CAF Confederation Cup RS Betkane of Morocco didn’t rely on their away goal alast week at Togolese club ASC Kara.

RS Berkane showed class and dominance as they brushed aside the visitors 3-1 in the second leg and 4-2 on aggregate.

Stade de Malien, FAR Rabat, MC Alger, Horoya among other top teams on the continent have also progressed to the final round of qualification before the group stage of the competition.
