Ghana began their 2026 World Cup campaign on an impressive note as the Black Stars sealed a late win over Panama in Ontario in the early hours of Thursday morning.
It was a game of few chances for the Black Stars as they scored from their only shot on target in the match.
Yirenkyi scored in the fifth minute of added time to help the Black Stars end their six-game winless run.
Brandon Thomas-Asante teed up Yirenkyi in the box before the latter powered a left-footed strike into the net.
Panama, despite dominating play couldn’t break through Ghana’s defence as they suffered their fourth defeat at the World Cup since they made their debut in 2018.
Ghana are second in Group L behind England and will take on the Three Lions in Foxborough, Massachusetts on June 23rd.
