Cape Verde will appear at the men’s senior FIFA World Cup for the first time in the country’s history.
The small island nation made history on Monday evening as they beat Eswatini in front of their home fans to qualify for the World Cup for the first time.
Cape Verde scored three times in the second half of the tie as they wrapped up a fantastic qualification run in grand style.
Rocha Livramento, Willy Semedo and Stopira got on the scoresheet as the Island nation secured a comfortable 3-0 win.
Cape Verde secured automatic qualification over Cameroon who have the most appearances of any African team at the FIFA World Cup – eight.
Cameroon finished second with 19 points – four points behind Cape Verde and will in contention to qualify though the playoffs.
Cape Verde made history as the second smallest nation to qualify for the Word Cup after after Iceland – Russia 2018 World Cup.
Meanwhile, Tunisia having qualified for the World Cup already, rounded off their campaign with 3-0 win over Namibia.
