Super Eagles B head coach Eric Chelle pinpointed three critical areas for improvement following Nigeria’s 1-0 defeat to Senegal in their 2024 CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) Group D opener on Tuesday evening at Amani Stadium in Zanzibar, Tanzania.
Christian Gomis’ second-half strike secured the win for the defending champions, leaving Chelle’s home-based squad pointless after their first match.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Chelle emphasized the need for a sharper mindset and greater intensity.
“So we need to improve our state of mind. We need to be more competitive and more aggressive,” Chelle said. “We will see,” he added, remaining optimistic about his team’s response.
The Super Eagles B, composed entirely of Nigeria Premier Football League players, now face Sudan in their second group match on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
Their final Group D fixture against the Congo follows, as they aim to revive their campaign and secure a berth in the knockout stage.
