Cheebak’s hat trick downs DR Congo while Zambia secure narrow win over Senegal

Ghizlane Cheebak bagged a remarkable hat trick to help Morocco secure it’s first win of the ongoing 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The host came from behind to record an impressive 4-2 win over DR Congo at the Rabat Olympic Stadium on Wednesday evening.

DR Congo’s Merveille Kajinga put her team ahead six minutes into the match as she put the host into panic mood.

The Moroccans suffered another early goal like they did in the opening me match of the competition against Zambia.

However, Ghizlane Cheebak scored twice in less than. 25 minutes to equalize and out the home fans into the frenzy going into the break.

Flavine Mawete qualified for DR Congo in the 7o minutes with the hope of getting a point off the home side.

Unfortunately, DR Congo goalkeeper had an understanding performance as her error gave Morocco the opportunity to take the lead.

Once again, Ghizlane Cheebak found the back of the net to give Morocco the lead again.

Mbrabet sealed the win for the Atlas Lionesses as the match ended 4-2.

On the flip side Zambia’s Barbra Banda pu up another fanatic performance on the night to help Zambia edge Senegal.

Banda scored in the first and second half to help the Copper Queens with a narrow 3-2 win over Senegal.

Barbra Banda now has three goals and an assist in two matches so far in the competition.
