Super Falcons’ coach, Justin Maduagu has officially included Chioma Okafor in its final 24‑woman Super Falcons squad ahead of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Born to a Nigerian father and Malawian mother, Okafor had previously trained with Malawi in 2015 and was approached by the Football Association of Malawi earlier this year.
However, when the NFF moved quickly – assisting her in acquiring a Nigerian passport in June – she opted to represent the nine-time African champions.
Speaking in an interview ahead of the tournament, Okafor said; “It feels great and awesome. I’m just excited to be in Morocco for this tournament. It’s a great opportunity and I’m grateful to be here.”
“I’ll certainly be learning and growing from everyone and the experience. I’m ready to take the role I’m given and step into it to make the most out of it.”
The tournament kicks off on July 5 in Casablanca, with Nigeria set to begin their Group B campaign against Tunisia.
