Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche has confirmed that he is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after medical tests revealed that his knee injury is serious.
Uche, who plays for Getafe CF, shared the update on social media, describing it as “one of the most difficult days” of his career.
The 22-year-old admitted that being forced away from football is difficult, given the importance of the game to his life and career.
“Football is my passion, my job, and what makes me happiest, and now I have to face a moment I never imagined.”
Despite the setback, Uche remains determined to return stronger. He said he will approach his recovery with “strength, patience and determination,” working every day to return to the pitch.
The Nigerian also expressed his gratitude to his family, teammates, coaching staff, medical team and the entire Getafe family for their support, while thanking fans who have reached out to him.
Uche ended his message on an optimistic note:
“This is just one chapter, not the end of the story.”
He added: “I’ll be back.”
