Super Falcons midfielder Christy Ucheibe has completed a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal after leaving Portuguese champions Benfica as a free agent.
The 25-year-old brings an end to a six-season spell in Lisbon, where she established herself as an important player and won a remarkable 15 trophies.
Ucheibe joined Benfica from Swedish side Assi IF in February 2020 and made 179 appearances, scoring 11 goals.
During her time at the club, she won six consecutive Portuguese league titles, two Taça de Portugal trophies, five Taça da Liga titles and two Super Cups.
She also became a regular with the Super Falcons and helped Nigeria win the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Benfica had offered Ucheibe a new contract after her deal expired on June 30, 2026, but the midfielder decided against renewing and opted to pursue a new challenge.
She will now continue her career in the Saudi Women’s Premier League with Al-Hilal, joining a growing list of high-profile Super Falcons players in the country.
She follows Asisat Oshoala, who previously made the switch to Al-Hilal.
Born in Kano on December 25, 2000, Ucheibe can operate as both a midfielder and centre-back and remains part of the Nigeria national team setup.
Her move comes after a difficult summer for the Super Falcons, who failed to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time in the team’s history.
