Novak Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas (6-3, 7-6, and 7-6) to win his 22 Grand Slam title which now equals that of his arch rival Rafael Nadal and in turn wins his 10th Australian Open championship.

Novak cruised past the Greek in the first set without breaking a sweat; he forced his opponent into making a lot of unforced errors by dictating the match with his baseline play. The Serb broke the world number 3 on 3 different occasions to win the opener with ease 6-3.

The second set was keenly contested as the Greek came out of his shell to raise his game with some powerful forehand winners. Both players held their serves which took the match into tie-break. Novak won the second set 7-6 to go to sets up.

Again, the third set continued the same way as both players gave it their all and there was no break of serve as well in the third set. It also headed into tie-break and once again Novak held his nerve to win by three sets and be crowned champion in Melbourne.

Djokovic has now equaled his Spanish rival Nadal by winning the Australian Open, now the race is on for who will hold the record for the most Grand Slam titles for the male category.
