A DNA test has revealed that the ancestors of Brazilian footballer Vinícius José Paixão de Oliveira Júnior are from Cameroun.
Vinicius Jr according to reports took a DNA test through the Brazilian Football Federation and the result shows that his ancestry can be traced to Cameroun.
The Real Madrid forward was presented with the certificate of ancestry before Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay in Salvador on Tuesday night.
Vinicius Jr was on for 90 minutes but had an underwhelming performance as the five-time World Champions played a one-all draw.
The 24-year-old goal draught for the national team extends to five matches as Brazil drop points for the third consecutive game in the qualifiers.
Fede Valverde gave Uruguay the lead on the 55th minute with a brilliant finish from the edge of the box.
However, Flamengo midfielder Gerson equalized seven minutes later with a one-time shot from the edge of the box.
The result leaves Brazil 5th on the log with 18 points after 12 matches with six matches left in the qualification series.
