Manchester United and Aston Villa shared eight goals at Old Trafford on Sunday, with Patrick Dorgu heading a stoppage-time equaliser to make it 4-4. Villa stormed ahead early, but United refused to fold and fought back twice.
Alysson and Nicolas Jackson put Villa 2-0 up inside four minutes. Matheus Cunha then won a penalty, Bruno Fernandes converted it in the 16th minute, and Youri Tielemans levelled with his first United goal just before the break.
Villa regained control straight after the restart. John McGinn scored a penalty after Diogo Dalot fouled Alysson, and Leon Goretzka tapped in after Leny Yoro headed across his own crossbar.
Joshua Zirkzee pulled one back late, and Dorgu rose highest at a corner, with goalkeeper Senne Lammens up front, to rescue a point. United stay 18th on eight points, still inside the relegation zone as the international break begins.
Liverpool also left with three points, beating Crystal Palace 3-1 at Selhurst Park. The win lifts them to fourth on 18 points and leaves Palace bottom of the table on seven.
Sunderland delivered the afternoon’s biggest shock, beating Chelsea 1-0. The result lifts Sunderland out of the bottom two on points and drops Chelsea to fifth.
Brighton continued their strong season with a 2-0 win over Brentford. They sit second on 22 points, five behind leaders Arsenal.
Bournemouth won 2-1 at Ipswich Town to climb to seventh on 15 points. Ipswich stay 14th.
United and Liverpool meet at Anfield on Sunday, 22 November, in a fixture that now carries added weight for both sides.
