In a tightly contested UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first-leg match at Signal Iduna Park, Borussia Dortmund and Lille OSC played to a 1-1 draw, leaving the tie finely poised ahead of the return leg in France.
The hosts started assertively, and their efforts paid off in the 22nd minute when Karim Adeyemi unleashed a powerful low drive from outside the penalty area. The shot struck the post before nestling into the net, giving Dortmund a deserved lead.
Despite maintaining control for much of the first half, Dortmund couldn’t extend their advantage. Pascal Groß thought he had doubled the lead, but his goal was disallowed for offside.
Lille, struggling to penetrate Dortmund’s defense initially, found their rhythm in the second half. Their persistence was rewarded in the 68th minute when Hakon Haraldsson finished a swift passing move to equalize with Lille’s first shot on target.
Both teams applied pressure in the closing stages but failed to create clear scoring opportunities, setting up an intriguing second leg at Stade Pierre-Mauroy on March 12.
