Seven-time Africa Cup of Nations champions Egypt will take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria in an international friendly match ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, according to a statement from the Egyptian FA.
The high-profile friendly match is billed for the Cairo International Stadium on December 14 as part preparation for the tournament in December.
According to reports, Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Pharaohs, requested a test against a top African team.
Before the friendly match against the Super Eagles, Egypt will participate in the Dubai International Championship next month, featuring Uzbekistan, Iran, and Cape Verde.
Egypt are grouped alongside South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe in Group B as they look to win a record seventh title.
Nigeria will contend for a fourth title, as they are in Group C alongside Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The last meeting between the Super Eagles and the Pharaohs was in 2021 at the Africa Cup of Nations in a group stage match, where Kelechi Iheanacho’s goal secured a 1-0 win.
