It was a cold and freezing night, but Super Falcons’ Esther Okoronkwo was on fire as she put up a spectacular performance to guide AFC Toronto to the final of the Northern Super League.
The Super Falcons scored a first-half hat-trick as AFC Toronto thrashed Montreal Roses on Monday night at the snow-covered York Lions Stadium.
Okoronkwo scored the opener in the sixth minute with a simple finish after she received a square pass into the box.
The 28-year-old doubled her tally a fourteen minutes later as she bent a free-kick from the left flank into the near post.
Esther Okoronkwo completed the hat trick with a solo effort goal in the 26th minute as she completely stole the show on the night.
The match ended 4-1, but 6-2 on aggregate, as AFC Toronto booked their spot in the final, where they will take on Vancouver Rise in Saturday’s NSL Final at BMO Field.
Vancouver got the better of Ottawa 5-4 on penalties after their two-leg semifinal matches ended tied 3-3 on aggregate.
Meanwhile, Esther Okorokwo, the 2025 CAF Women’s Player of the Year nominee, will look to win her second trophy of the season after winning the regular season title with her club.
Okorokwo scored eight goals and provided six assists en route to AFC Toronto’s regular-season triumph.
