Esther Okoronkwo has been named the Super Falcons’ Fans Player of the Tournament for her exceptional displays at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The 27-year-old forward, representing AFC Toronto, was a standout performer in Nigeria’s remarkable campaign, scoring two goals and providing six assists across six matches.

Okoronkwo earned two Woman of the Match awards, playing a pivotal role in the Super Falcons’ 10th WAFCON triumph, secured with a thrilling 3-2 victory over hosts Morocco in the final.
The announcement came through the Super Falcons’ official X account, stating, “Presenting your #WAFCON2024 Fans’ Player of the Tournament… Esther Okoronkwo, OON. Clutch. Composed. Crowned by the people.”
Okoronkwo outshone a competitive shortlist of teammates, including team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who claimed the overall Player of the Tournament award, alongside Folashade Ijamilusi, Ashleigh Plumptre, Chiwendu Ihezuo, and Jennifer Echegini.
