American Tennis sensation Christopher Eubanks knocked out Stefanos Tsitsipas in the fourth round of this year’s Wimbledon to advance to the quarter finals.
Eubanks fresh from winning the Mallorca Open in Spain came into the All England’s club tournament with high spirit and that showed after he defeated home favourite Cameron Norrie in the third round. That win made it his first fourth round qualification ever in a Grand Slam. Defeating the Greek and advancing to the quarter finals is also another personal record for the American.
This year’s Wimbledon is Eubanks debut and also his first time to defeat a top 5 player. He is also on a nine matches winning streak since his triumph in Spain two weeks ago.
Eubanks progress into the quarter final was not an easy ride as it took him 5 sets before he could come out victorious. He lost the first set 6-3 but rallied back strongly in the second set to win it at 7-6 on tie-break. Once again he lost the third set as Stefanos came back fighting and won the set 6-4 after breaking Eubanks just once. In the deciding set the both broke each other but Eubanks broke back when it matters most in the ninth game and served out the match in the set game to progress to the next round.
