Al-Nassr suffered a 2-1 defeat to Al-Qadsiyah, denting their hopes of securing the Saudi Pro League’s third spot, the final qualifying position for the AFC Champions League.
At Prince Saud bin Jalawi Stadium, Al-Qadsiyah dominated early, curbing Al-Nassr’s attacks despite the visitors’ possession. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s 30-yard shot just missed, and Turki Al-Ammar tested goalkeeper Bento.
The hosts took the lead when Al-Ammar scored on a rebound after Bento saved Aubameyang’s shot.
Al-Nassr rallied after halftime, but Al-Qadsiyah’s solid defense, under manager Michel, limited Cristiano Ronaldo and Jhon Duran.
Duran squandered two promising opportunities, misjudging his footing in key moments, and though Sadio Mane equalized via Otavio’s pass, Aubameyang’s 86th-minute goal clinched the win for Al-Qadsiyah, closing the gap to Al-Nassr to two points.
