Former Arsenal and Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has joined the growing chorus of voices, including Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel, calling for Chelsea to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.

Chelsea’s search for a prolific goal scorer has been ongoing for several seasons, and Pennant believes Osimhen is the answer.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Pennant emphasized the importance of signing Osimhen:

“Without a shadow of a doubt. He knows how to score. His numbers are frightening. They were great at Napoli.”

Pennant highlighted the struggles of Chelsea’s current striker, Nicolas Jackson, and the impact Osimhen could have:

“We see how often Jackson gets chances, but his conversion rate isn’t great. He can have three or four clear-cut chances and miss them all, leaving you scratching your head, wondering how Chelsea ended up with a draw or a loss.

“Someone like Osimhen, if he finds a goal, will only boost Chelsea or any team.”

With Manchester United, Arsenal, and PSG reportedly preparing to activate the Nigerian’s €75 million release clause, Chelsea must act quickly to bring him to London.

Osimhen has been in phenomenal form this season, scoring 26 goals and providing five assists in 30 appearances while on loan at Galatasaray.
