Nigerian sprint star, Favour Ofili delivered a landmark performance at the 2025 Adidas Atlanta City Games on Saturday, setting a new world record in the women’s 150m.
Competing at Piedmont Park in Atlanta, the 22-year-old blazed to a remarkable 15.85 seconds, becoming the first woman in history to break the 16-second barrier in the rarely contested event.
Ofili’s time eclipsed the previous world best of 16.23 seconds, set by Bahamian Olympic champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo in 2018.
Her record-breaking performance headlined an outstanding day for Team Nigeria at the high-profile street athletics meet, which showcased top-tier global talent in a vibrant, fan-engaging environment.
Also representing Nigeria, world record holder in the 100m hurdles, Tobi Amusan, posted a time of 12.53 seconds to place second in her heat behind American Keni Harrison (12.44s), successfully advancing to the event’s final later in the day.
