AFCON 2025
FIFA has confirmed its official Team of the Tournament for the 2026 World Cup, with newly crowned champions Spain leading the way with three representatives in the XI.
The side lines up in a 4-3-3 formation and features players from seven different nations, honouring the standout performers across the tournament hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The full lineup reads as follows:
Goalkeeper: Vozinha (Brazil)
Defenders: Marc Cucurella (Spain), Dayot Upamecano (France), Lisandro Martínez (Argentina), Pedro Porro (Spain)
Midfielders: Jude Bellingham (England), Rodri (Spain), Michael Olise (France)
Forwards: Lionel Messi (Argentina), Erling Haaland (Norway), Kylian Mbappé (France)
Spain’s title-winning campaign earns recognition through Cucurella and Porro in defence, alongside midfield anchor Rodri, who played a central role in La Roja’s triumph. Bellingham and Olise complete the midfield three, both rewarded for standout tournaments of their own.
Runners-up Argentina place two players in the side. Captain Messi is named among the front three after yet another exceptional World Cup showing, while Martínez earns his spot for a commanding tournament at the back.
France also boast three representatives across the XI, with Mbappé leading the line alongside Olise in attack, and Upamecano marshalling the defence. Haaland completes the forward line, capping off a prolific run in front of goal for Norway.
The final XI blends World Cup winners with standout performers from teams who fell short of the trophy, reflecting a tournament that delivered drama and quality from the group stage all the way to the final.
