The Flying Eagles of Nigeria defeated Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 to qualify for WAFU B U-20 AFCON semifinal

On Thursday, October 24, 2024, the Flying Eagles defeated Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 in their last Group B match.

The Nigerians needed a resounding win to advance after losing to Burkina Faso by a slim margin of 1-0 in their first group match.

With the win, they move on to the U20 AFCON qualifying tournament’s semifinals in Lome, Togo.

Nigeria won Group B with three points after scoring more goals than their two opponents.

Burkina Faso had the fewest goals in the group, which led to their elimination even though they also had three points.

On Sunday, October 27, 2024, the Flying Eagles will now play their Niger Republic rivals in the semifinal.

Mr. Soname, the chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League team Remo Stars, has promised the Flying Eagles N5 million if they win the championship in Togo.

The current tournament in Togo is a qualification for the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
