Well-meaning Nigerians from all walks of life have contributed money to help the Flying Eagles win their match against the Niger Republic on Saturday in an attempt to secure an AFCON 2025 ticket.
Distinguished Senator Barau Jibrin, the Deputy Senate President, has awarded the team N2 million for their efforts thus far.
After rising through the Flying Eagles’ ranks, Wilfred Ndidi, a midfielder for the Super Eagles and Leicester City gifted N5 million to the team.
In the meantime, Nigerian coach Adedeji Adeyemi Anthony, who is based in Switzerland, has paid the squad N1 million for defeating the Young Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire.
Another member of the football community who does not want his name to appear in print gave the seven-time African champions N1.5 million earlier on Thursday, while a senior member of the Nigeria Football Federation’s staff gave them N1 million.
On Saturday at 2:00 PM Nigeria time, the Flying Eagles are scheduled to play the Niger Republic in the semi-final.
If they win, they will advance to the final and the AFCON U20 championships the following year.
