Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has pushed for the club to sign Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, even though the England striker turns 30 in September.
Ferdinand believes the 29-year-old’s experience would help guide United’s young forwards.

Watkins has been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, as United aim to boost their attack after signing Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha.
Speaking on his Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: “I think he [Watkins] would be a very, very good addition to the Manchester United squad.
“He is 29; that is the only drawback for Manchester United. There is not going to be any sell-on value, which I understand is an issue. Manchester United need experience at the top of the pitch.
“They have got Hojlund, Zirkzee and Chido… young, inexperienced players.”
Last season, Watkins scored 17 goals and provided 14 assists in 54 games for Villa, making him a proven Premier League talent.
