Stanley Nwabali has come under severe criticisms following his poor performance on Super Eagles 2-1 over Lesotho in crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday on Polokwane.
The Chippa United 1st choice failed to deal with a cross from a corner kick which allowing Hlompho Kalake to pull a goal back for the Crocodiles.
Nwabali’s miscommunication with central defender Semi Ajayi almost cost the Super Eagles the vital three points late in the game.
The 29-year-old continues to receive backlash from fans as the Super Eagles secured a narrow win to keep their World Cup chances alive.
Meanwhile, Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Dosu Joseph urged Stanley Nwabali to stay calm amid criticism over his performance in Nigeria’s 2-1 win over Lesotho on Friday evening.
Reacting in a post via his X page, Dosu Joseph encouraged Nwabali to remain calm, focused, and committed ahead of another important tie against Benin Republic on Tuesday.
“My advice to you is to remain focused at this crucial time. Stay concentrated and committed,” he revealed on X.
The Super Eagles remain third in their group despite the win against Lesotho and are behind Benin and South Africa, who occupy first and second positions respectively.
To avoid missing out on FIFA World Cup for the second time in a row, the Super Eagles must defeat Benin in their final game and hope South Africa fail to secure maximum points against Rwanda in Mbombela on Tuesday.
