Liverpool failed to break down Fulham at Anfield on Saturday, settling for a goalless draw in a round of 3pm Premier League fixtures that otherwise produced 13 goals and reshaped the bottom half of the table.
Andoni Iraola’s side dominated possession and created chances throughout the afternoon but could not find the finishing touch against a Fulham team that had struggled coming into the fixture. The result extends Liverpool’s winless run at home while Fulham earned their first point of the season.
Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest snatched a dramatic 2-1 win at Villa Park to claim their first victory of the season. Liam Delap fired Forest ahead just 45 seconds into the second half, Aston Villa hit back through Alysson’s first league goal of the campaign, but Igor Jesus struck in the 88th minute to hand Oliver Glasner his first win as Forest boss.
Hull City forced Chelsea to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge, fighting back to climb to third in the table. Morgan Rogers put Chelsea in front early, but Mohamed Belloumi punished sloppy defending twice, converting a volley and then a deflected effort, before Joao Pedro rescued a point for the hosts.
Crystal Palace suffered a costly home defeat, losing 3-2 to Ipswich Town at Selhurst Park. Axel Disasi received a first-half red card for a reckless, studs-up challenge on Jack Clarke, and Ipswich capitalized on the extra man, with Leif Davis and a stoppage-time Zian Flemming strike sealing the win.
Brentford extended their unbeaten start to the season, fighting back for a 2-2 draw at Bournemouth. Kevin Schade scored twice for the visitors, while Bournemouth extended their pattern of failing to hold onto leads under new manager Marco Rose.
The results reshuffled the table significantly. Ipswich’s win lifted them off the bottom at Palace’s expense, while Hull’s resilience carried them into the top three of the early standings.
Villa’s loss drags them deeper into the relegation zone as they continue searching for a first Premier League win of the campaign. At the same time, Forest’s late strike gives Glasner his first taste of victory at the start of his tenure at the City Ground.
