Barcelona are reportedly in the market for a new striker following the departure of Robert Lewandowski, and Victor Osimhen is one of the options the Spanish giants have been linked to.
The reigning La Liga champions have made Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez their primary summer target, while actively monitoring Victor Osimhen as a strong alternative should negotiations for the Argentine prove too difficult.
Galatasaray have reportedly placed a €140 million price tag on Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.
Although the Turkish club’s president has publicly insisted that the Nigerian is not for sale, fresh reports suggest the champions will sit down at the negotiating table if Barcelona or any club tables a €140 million offer.
This hefty valuation keeps the 27-year-old Nigerian — who just fired Galatasaray to their 26th Süper Lig title — firmly on Barcelona’s radar.
The Catalan giants are seriously evaluating a potential summer move for the prolific forward, although he currently remains their backup option.
Barcelona continues to push hardest for their top target, Julian Alvarez. However, they fully recognize that an aggressive €140 million bid could immediately open the door for Osimhen if their preferred deal collapses.
The Blaugrana’s continued interest in Osimhen stems directly from the increasingly hostile negotiations surrounding Alvarez. Barcelona recently submitted a €100 million opening bid for the highly decorated Argentine, only for Atletico Madrid to reject it instantly — and even mock the offer on social media.
While the Catalan club plans to return with an improved bid in the €120–125 million range, Atletico’s combative stance indicates they will likely reject this second offer as well.
Barcelona consider Osimhen the most suitable option. Atletico blocks the move for Julian Alvarez this summer.
