Oğuz Altay, a Turkish football commentator, has urged reigning champions Galatasaray to sign Nigerian forward Gift Orban to partner Victor Osimhen.
Gift Orban’s electric start to the campaign has caught the attention of Turkish football fans and pundits. Hence, Altay’s comment.
Altay believes that Orban is the ideal player Galatasaray needs to pair with Victor Osimhen, given his quality and how he has fared so far this season.
Orban joined Amedspor from Hoffenheim on a season-long loan in July. The deal reportedly includes a purchase option that could become mandatory if certain conditions are met. With his impressive performances in Turkey, Altay feels Galatasaray should look no further for another striker.
He proposed that Orban be signed as a second striker to play alongside Osimhen.
“Let me tell you something. You don’t need to look too hard. Get Orban from Amedspor as a second striker alongside Osimhen. I really like Deniz Gül, that’s a separate matter, but you’ll create an incredible game,” he said as quoted by Habersarikirmizi.
Altay also praised the qualities that have allowed Orban to make an immediate impression in the Turkish top flight.
He pointed to the forward’s blistering pace, ability to take on defenders and versatility in front of goal. Altay also highlighted Orban’s willingness to contribute defensively and his wide range of finishing abilities.
“He scores all kinds of goals. He scores with volleys, headers, long-range shots, placed shots, and he helps with team defense. He’s a good player,” he concluded.
Orban’s performances for Amedspor have certainly justified the growing praise. The 24-year-old has scored seven goals and provided two assists in six league appearances this season, producing nine goal contributions in his opening six matches.
Despite his blistering form, the Amedspor forward was overlooked by Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and the friendly match against Russia.
