Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has praised Ademola Lookman for his significant contribution to the club’s impressive form.
The Serie A side have been on a roll since the tail end of last season, winning the UEFA Europa League, their first major title in over 50 years, with Lookman scoring a historic hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen.
This season, the Nigeria international has continued to impress, registering nine goals and five assists in 15 appearances across all competitions.
Gasperini attributes the team’s success to their Europa League win last season, which boosted their confidence and self-belief.
“We are in a good period of form in Italy and Europe. I’m happy with the performances and results we are getting,” Gasperini told reporters.
“Winning the Europa League last season helped us grow in confidence and self-belief.
“Many new players have arrived and are improving, but it was last season’s success, driven by players like Lookman, that set the tone.”
